Jakarta. Otto Toto Sugiri is a businessman who is among the richest people in Indonesia. Citing real-time Forbes data as of October 10, 2025, Toto Sugiri is ranked the fifth richest person in Indonesia with a net worth of US$12.3 billion as the founder and CEO of PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII). His share ownership in DCII reaches 29.9%, the largest of any shareholder.
Nicknamed the Bill Gates of Indonesia
His success in the technology sector has earned him the nickname “Indonesia’s Bill Gates.” He earned a Master of Science in Engineering from the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen, Germany, in 1980 and has been involved in the IT ( Information and Technology ) industry for a long time. For his contributions to advancing the technology industry in Indonesia, he was included among the 64 recipients of honorary degrees and medals by the 7th President, Joko Widodo, in August 2024.
Before founding his own company, Toto worked as an IT General Manager at Bank Bali. He first founded the company in 1989, named PT Sigma Cipta Caraka. The company was later acquired by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM) in 2010 through TelkomMetra, and is now known as Telkomsigma.
Toto Sugiri’s other legacy dates back to 1994 when he co-founded Indonet, Indonesia’s first internet provider. The company, which went public in 2021, was then acquired by Singaporean company Digital Edge in 2023.
The First Tier IV Data Center Owner in ASEAN
Born in Bandung on September 23, 1953, he began building his business empire in the data center industry by establishing PT DCI Indonesia Tbk in 2011. The company, which began operating in 2013, officially became a public company in 2021.
The DCII stock code holder has since grown into the largest data center company in Indonesia, even becoming the first Tier IV certified data center provider (the highest category in the data center industry) in ASEAN. The company has seven data centers spread across three locations: Cibitung, Karawang, and Jakarta, with a total power capacity of nearly 1,000 megawatts (MW).
As the internet and AI develop, the need for data centers is increasing. This is what has driven DCII’s dramatic growth. DCII’s success propelled Toto from the 26th richest person in Indonesia in 2024 to the top of the list. Last year, his wealth was recorded at US$2.21 billion, a nearly sixfold increase this year.
When it first went public in 2021, DCII shares traded at Rp420 per share. Now, DCII’s stock has grown 34,000 percent to Rp280,300 per share on Friday, October 10, 2025. Meanwhile, the company also holds a 50.01% stake in PT Sarana Megahtama, a data center services provider.
