PSSI Revives Pati Football Through Football School Outreach

Pati. The local association of PSSI Pati Branch (Askab PSSI Pati) is taking concrete steps to revitalise football in the Pati region of Central Java by launching a “visit to football schools” program (sambang SSB).

The initiative is part of an ongoing effort by Askab PSSI Pati to strengthen football development in the area. According to chairperson Dian Dwi Budianto, the program includes building and guiding training centres (“Puslat”), supporting football schools (SSB), and organising local competitions.

There are over 50 registered football schools (SSB) and around 20 affiliated football clubs (PS) under Askab PSSI Pati, reflecting the grassroots network they intend to elevate.

As part of the outreach, Askab PSSI Pati staff are visiting each SSB—starting from the northernmost area of Pati, such as PPA Perseput in Puncel village, Dukuhseti sub‐district—and providing incentives such as balls and goalkeeper gloves. These gestures aim both to motivate and to map which schools are active.

Importantly, Askab PSSI Pati discovered that of the 55 SSBs on record, nearly half were inactive—a key reason why this outreach and data‐collection process is vital for early age football development.

In terms of structured training, two age groups are targeted in their training centre (Puslat) programme: U-13 with 37 children, and U-15 with 36 children. Training for U-13 is held twice a week (Friday afternoon and Sunday morning), while the U-15 group trains on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons. Venues include Gemiring Field in Sukoharjo village, Margorejo sub‐district, and Joyokusumo Stadium.

By combining grassroots visits, equipment support, activity tracking, and age‐specific training, Askab PSSI Pati hopes to reignite football passion in the region and unearth young talent.
