Marc Klok It's Time for the Indonesian National Team to Make History

Jakarta. Persib Bandung midfielder Marc Klok has reaffirmed his determination to lead the Indonesian national team to make history on the global stage. He stated that the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals is now wide open, and all players are determined to capitalize on this momentum.

“This opportunity doesn’t come twice. We have to be optimistic, work hard, and fight together. Hopefully, we can make history this week,” said Klok, as quoted from Persib’s official website, Sunday (October 6, 2025).

Patrick Kluivert’s Indonesian national team will face two crucial matches in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone. The Garuda squad is scheduled to face Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (October 8) and Iraq on Friday (October 11), both at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. These matches will be a real test for a team that has made it to the Asian zone’s quarterfinals for the first time.

In the fourth round, only the group winners qualify directly for the finals. The group runners-up still have a chance to advance through to the fifth round. Despite facing tough opponents, Indonesia comes in high spirits after an impressive performance in the previous round, eliminating Vietnam and surprising other Southeast Asian teams.

Kluivert brought 30 players to his new squad, including four Persib Bandung players—Marc Klok, Beckham Putra Nugraha, Thom Haye, and Eliano Reijnders. Their presence adds depth to the Indonesian national team’s midfield, which is now filled with naturalized and local players with European experience. Additionally, players such as Sandy Walsh, Jordi Amat, Pratama Arhan, and Rafael Struick have also joined the training camp in Jeddah.

Marc Klok hopes that all Indonesians will offer their prayers and full support for the Red and White squad’s efforts. “This isn’t just a match; it’s the dream of millions of Indonesians. We want to make history and prove that Indonesia is capable of competing at the highest level,” he emphasized.
