Signing of MoA between East Java Provincial Government and Unesa

East Java. The 42nd National Sports Day (Haornas) commemoration for East Java was held at the Rectorate Field of Surabaya State University (Unesa) with a series of fitness and educational activities related to health and sports. The highlight of the Haornas commemoration was attended by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and relevant regional government organizations on Friday, September 26, 2025.

East Java Governor, Khofifah, stated that the 42nd Haornas, entitled the East Java Sport Festival (Jatim Sportiv) at Unesa, was a form of collaboration between the East Java Provincial Government and Unesa in popularizing the spirit and habit of sports, as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle in the community.

He stated that sports development, from talent scouting and talent management to coaching and training talented athletes, requires the serious development of sports science at Unesa. Therefore, the East Java Provincial Government continues to collaborate with Unesa in sports, education, and other related sectors.

“I see Unesa as the epicenter of sports science development in Indonesia. So, the initiator is truly extraordinary. The Rector has created many breakthroughs and initiatives in the sports field,” said Khofifah.

The number 1 woman in East Java hopes that the resonance of the Haornas commemoration can continue to strengthen the spirit of sports in East Java, both competitive sports, educational sports, and community sports.

In keeping with the spirit of this year’s National Sports Day theme, the East Java Governor hopes that collaboration between all stakeholders in advancing East Java sports will continue and be strengthened. “The East Java Provincial Government and the consolidation of sports branch leaders and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) must continue,” he said.

Unesa Chancellor, Nurhasan or Cak Hasan, who was accompanied by a number of vice chancellors, emphasized that looking at the challenges ahead, the government and universities cannot go it alone, solid synergy and collaboration are needed to advance the world of sports in East Java.

“We all have a responsibility to support and strengthen the world of sports. Athletes or students with potential and achievements in sports must be supported and appreciated to the fullest. This synergy is key,” he emphasized.

Cak Hasan added that the holding of Haornas at the House of Champions is expected to be a gateway to community fitness towards Golden Indonesia 2045. He believes that in addition to nutritious food, the body also needs exercise as a balance to become healthier and fitter.
