Ciamis. Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya officially opened the D-License Football Coaching Course held by the Ciamis Regency Football Association (PSSI) at the Ciamis KONI Hall on Saturday (11/10/2025).
Dozens of participants from various sub-districts in Ciamis Regency attended the event as part of an effort to improve the quality of football coaches in the region.
In his remarks, Regent Herdiat emphasized the strategic role of coaches in sports, including football. He believes that a team’s success or failure is largely determined by the coach’s abilities and role.
“The coach is the key. No matter how good the players are, without proper guidance from the coach, it’s difficult for the team to develop,” he said.
However, the Regent also emphasized the importance of a balance between technique and physical fitness for players. He emphasized that in football, relying solely on technical ability is not enough; players must also be in top physical condition.
“No matter how good the coach and players are, if they are physically weak, they won’t perform optimally. So, technique and physical fitness must be balanced,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, Herdiat emphasized that there is no instant success in football. He believes that achievement can only be achieved through a long, structured process, starting with early childhood development.
He hopes this coaching course will be the first step in producing young coaches capable of developing potential players from an early age.
“Therefore, I hope that this course will produce great coaches who can produce talented young talents, future PSGC players. It all starts here,” said Regent Herdiat enthusiastically.
The Regent also expressed his appreciation for the organization of this activity. He considered this D-license coaching course a concrete step in reviving the spirit of football in Ciamis Regency.
“The point is, the participants must remain enthusiastic despite all the shortcomings and limitations. God willing, if every club in every district has a licensed coach, Ciamis football will progress,” he said hopefully.
The Regent also advised all participants to truly absorb the knowledge provided by the instructors. “What the instructors convey must be understood well. Don’t just be a formality, but actually apply it on the field later,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ciamis Regency PSSI, Asep Dedi Herdiana, in his report stated that this activity is part of the 2025 Ciamis PSSI work program. This course was attended by 30 participants from almost all sub-districts in Ciamis Regency.
Asep explained that the course will last for six days with a weekend system, namely every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. During the implementation, participants will receive theoretical and practical training from national instructors who have experience in the world of coaching.
With the same spirit, Asep hopes that this activity can become a forum for local coaches to improve their skills and professionalism.
“We want to produce competent coaches who are ready to develop the younger generation and bring Ciamis to success in the national football scene,” he said optimistically.
