Halodoc Releases Indonesia Health Insights Report 2025, Highlighting Mothers' Role as Wellness Warriors in the Family

Jakarta. Halodoc, as a pioneer in the digital healthcare ecosystem in Indonesia, is committed to not only providing medical services but also playing an active role in health issues that affect the wider community. Through its quarterly Indonesia Health Insights report , Halodoc presents an in-depth analysis of public health trends that encompasses clinical data as well as social, economic, and daily behavioral dynamics. Halodoc collaborates with global research institute YouGov, as the research provider, ensuring the findings are objective and reliable. This edition of the report, titled ” Wellness Warriors in Silence : Realities, Pressures, and Hopes Behind the Role of Mothers in Family Health,” highlights the importance of mothers as the foundation of family health.

Fibriyani Elastria, Chief Marketing Officer of Halodoc, said, “Through this edition of the Indonesia Health Insights Report 2025, we want to highlight the role of mothers as a vital foundation for family health, a crucial issue that is often overlooked. For Halodoc, a wellness warrior is an individual with multiple roles who daily maintains the balance and well-being of those around them. Mothers are a prime example: amidst their roles as wives, household managers, caregivers, and workers, their lives are fast-paced, demanding, and often without pause. Although they appear strong, they are still ordinary people who need space to rest, feel supported, and cared for. That’s why we care, because the health and resilience of mothers is directly proportional to the health of the families and communities they care for.”

Halodoc presents a reliable, data-driven report that illustrates the dynamics and public perceptions of family health in Indonesia. This report is expected to serve as a reference for the media, policymakers, and industry partners in developing concrete steps towards a healthier Indonesia, while also highlighting often-overlooked issues, including maternal health, as a crucial foundation for family and community well-being.

“As the research provider for this report, we found that the role of mothers as caregivers or wellness warriors is full of pressures and challenges that are often invisible. As many as 54% of mothers call caregiving a ‘job without a break,’ yet recognition of this significant role is still rarely given. Meanwhile, 53% of mothers also carry out dual roles as healthcare decision-makers and breadwinners. In fact, 74% of mothers manage healthcare matters for three or more family members. Of the total time devoted, 80% is dedicated to managing the health of family members: 32% is used for children, 23% for parents, and 21% for husbands, while only 17% is left for self-care. (1) This data shows how heavy the burden that mothers have to bear in their daily lives,” said Edward Hutasoit, General Manager of YouGov Indonesia & India.

As primary caregivers , wellness warriors face various challenges in maintaining their children’s health at every stage of their development, as well as taking on the additional role of caring for their husbands and parents. Their consultations on Halodoc demonstrate the ever-changing dynamics of family health needs, from newborns to school-age children, as well as husbands’ health concerns influenced by lifestyle and daily activities. The following are trends in consultations between mothers and their families for family health:

  • Newborns : Mothers have difficulty understanding what their babies are feeling, >50% of consultations are related to general consultations and health education, and non-acne skin problems.
  • Toddlers : Complaints more closely related to growth and development and the child’s immune response, with respiratory problems accounting for 36%, and diarrhea increasing by 9%. Furthermore, there was a 52% increase in consultations with lung specialists and a nearly sixfold increase in influenza and pneumonia vaccinations during this phase.
  • School-age children : Mothers minimize the risk of exposure to infectious diseases and various other health problems. In addition to respiratory and non-acne skin disorders, there was a trend of 7% of eye consultations and 6% of fevers as social activity increased.
  • Husband : Apart from the most common complaints, complaints such as dyspepsia, GERD, and gastritis (5%), as well as musculoskeletal disorders (4%) are most frequently consulted for by husbands.
  • Parents : 51% of mothers play the role of primary caregiver for their parents, with prominent health consultation disorders such as musculoskeletal (joint pain and back pain) with 8% of total consultations and metabolic and non-communicable diseases at 7%.

In addition to the challenges mothers face in maintaining family health, this report also shows the dynamics of mothers’ personal health. Where, as many as 78% of mothers admitted to postponing medical appointments or self-care in the past 12 months, and 74% continued their caregiving duties even when they were sick. (3) In addition, according to internal Halodoc data in 2025, the physical health problems that are most often ignored or postponed by them include non-acne skin care, dental and oral health, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health . (4) This fact confirms that the dual roles that mothers carry out often make their basic personal health needs marginalized.

Beyond their role as caregivers , wellness warriors long for support that can ease their burden, even though it’s not yet fully available. Their greatest hope isn’t just about cost, but also easy access, emotional support, and the opportunity to have personal space to maintain balance. As many as 37% of mothers believe the best appreciation is being given space for personal rest.

“The findings in this report show that the challenges mothers face as caregivers are not individual issues, but rather shared challenges that require real support. This is the strong foundation for Halodoc in presenting the #ImperfectMom campaign, to encourage a change in society’s perspective, that being a mother doesn’t always have to be ‘perfect’. More than that, what’s more important is how mothers feel supported, appreciated, and have the space to take care of their own health. We believe that when mothers are healthier and happier, families will be stronger and more prosperous,” concluded Fibri.

Halodoc’s mission and commitment is to simplify healthcare for the wider community, by providing a complete ecosystem of services ranging from curative to preventive.
