Yogyakarta. The Yogyakomtek 2025 computer exhibition officially opens from Saturday (September 27, 2025) to Wednesday (October 1, 2025) at the Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Student involvement in this event will help them continue to be involved in the development of information technology .
The Chair of the Yogyakomtek 2025 Committee, A. Willy Sudjono, stated that this year’s Yogyakomtek will involve many universities, as the exhibition will return to its original location. “We’ve been living on campus since its inception, and this year we’re involving 300 students from three different universities: UGM, ISI Jogja, and Amikom,” he said during the event on Saturday (September 27, 2025) at GIK UGM.
During Yogyakomtek 2025, the university provided 75 stalls for students to showcase their work and innovations to the public. This program aims to encourage the development of students’ entrepreneurial skills, which is expected to have a positive impact on the educational community and the business world in general in the future.
“We want these young people to be inspired to participate in developing the world of IT, Artificial Intelligence, and so on. We’ve packaged Yogyakomtek as a festival that can be enjoyed by all ages. We’ve added a touch of excitement that allows visitors to try, compare, and get directly involved,” he said.
This year’s event, Yogyakomtek is carrying the overarching theme “Artificial Intelligence Now!”, which is considered aligned with current developments and needs. To support this theme, a series of AI seminars and workshops will be one of the featured events at Yogyakomtek 2025.
Additionally, there were band competitions, cosplay, eSports tournaments, and K-Pop events, all of which certainly had their own appeal. The products on display were also very diverse, including desktop PCs, notebooks, digital cameras, smartphones, scanners, projectors, tablets, interactive flat panels, display monitors, computer peripherals, smartphones, and various accessories.
“With the experience and play approach at Yogyakomtek this year, visitors will learn more about, understand, and experience AI through a number of activities,” he said.
Going forward, Yogyakomtek will involve more students from various campuses in Yogyakarta. They will be involved in sales, comic exhibitions, and exhibitions of their own work. “These young people will be the future of Indonesia. We’re also holding a coding competition with prizes of USD 5,000 and IDR 10 million in cash to be awarded to the winners,” he said.
The Rector of Amikom University Yogyakarta, Prof. M. Suyanto, who attended the opening of Yogyakomtek 2025, expressed his appreciation for the student community’s involvement in the event. “This is extraordinary. As Ki Hajar Dewantoro said, this festival is about understanding, acting, and reflecting. These students can be directly involved in this activity,” he said.
He supports Yogyakomtek’s efforts to maintain student engagement, including Amikom students, where the campus is a center for Artificial Intelligence studies, particularly in film. “Our film industry is extraordinary because we collaborate with Hollywood,” he said.
Furthermore, they will examine the animated film “Aji Saka,” which features the world’s first artificial intelligence-based animation. “This is the world’s first animated film enhanced with AI. This is extraordinary. This is a record-breaking first AI-animated film,” said Suyanto.
Previously, Eka Wibawa, Chairman of the Yogyakarta Computer Entrepreneurs Association (Apkom), was optimistic that Yogyakomtek 2025 would attract 50,000 visitors. He added that AI-related themes are a major draw and a current need. “Through Yogyakomtek, we want to provide the public with an understanding of the implications and implementation of AI technology,” he said.
