Yogyakarta. Budget cuts have impacted various elements, including programs under the jurisdiction of the Sleman General Elections Commission (KPU) .
Sleman KPU Chairman Ahmad Baehaqi explained that budget cuts have had a significant impact on various activities . However, his office is still trying to implement political education, for example, through mentoring activities during the student council president elections at schools.
“Previously, there was a budget for fostering politically literate villages, but now it’s pending . Our plan is to just continue with this program, without creating any new villages,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sleman General Elections Commission (KPU) Secretary Yuyud Futrama explained that the central government’s budget typically reaches Rp 10 billion. However, it’s now only Rp 5 billion. This despite the increase in staff numbers, from less than 30 to nearly 40. “So, the budget is only for operations, salaries, and maintenance,” he said.
He said various technical budgets were missing, including updating political party data , interim replacement budgets, and legal studies . “We had no choice but to innovate and go online via Zoom ,” he said.
Yuyud also stated that there was no transportation allowance for official travel. Furthermore, meals were typically provided during voter education programs. “We always go out to conduct voter education.
God willing, there will be no impact or obstacles,” he said.
